Austrian Statistics Agency: China becomes Austria's second largest source of imports for the first time in 2020

According to the data released by the Austrian Statistical Office on the 11th, China became Austria's second largest source of imports for the first time in 2020.

In a press release released on the same day, the Austrian Statistical Office said that China has been one of Austria's top ten trading partners in the past five years. In 2020, Austria's imports from China amounted to 10.15 billion euros, accounting for 7.0% of its total imports, rising to second place for the first time; exports to China amounted to 3.93 billion euros, accounting for 2.8% of its total exports, ranking tenth. Compared to 2019, Austria's imports from China increased by 3.2% in 2020, and exports to China decreased by 11.9%.

The statistic also shows that Austria's import and export value in 2020 fell sharply compared with 2019, with imports by 8.6% and 7.5% reduction in exports due to the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic. After adjustment, imports fell 9.0% and exports fell 7.9%.
